Disneyland Paris Unveils €20 Million Flagship McDonald's in Disney Village Reimagining

Disneyland Paris has opened an ultramodern McDonald’s restaurant in Disney Village, marking a significant step in the district’s ongoing transformation. The €20 million investment introduces a three-story establishment designed to accommodate 600 guests, including 200 seats on outdoor terraces.

This new flagship location replaces the previous McDonald’s, which has been permanently closed for demolition. The new facility features 23 self-service kiosks, dual kitchens, five dumbwaiters, and a three-story indoor play area. A panoramic elevator enhances accessibility throughout the building.

The development prioritizes sustainable construction. The building integrates 250 square meters of solar panels and 350 square meters of green space across its roof and planters. A 120-square-meter living wall further promotes biodiversity and pollination on site. These elements contribute to its compliance with RE2020 environmental regulations.

McDonald’s France confirmed that 75% of raw ingredients for the new location will be sourced from French producers. This commitment aligns with broader sustainability goals for the project and supports local agriculture.

Operational efficiency for guests has also been a key focus. Visitors can place orders at the self-service kiosks or directly to their tables via QR code and geolocation technology. The reception area was designed to minimize congestion, particularly during peak visitor seasons. Staff fluent in 16 languages are on hand to assist the international clientele.

Jo Sempels, President and CEO of McDonald’s France, described the opening as a “new milestone.” He noted the 220 employees ready to serve families from around the world. Boris Solbach, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Disneyland Paris, highlighted the restaurant’s role in supporting the overall Disney Village transformation.

The new McDonald’s is part of a comprehensive overhaul for Disney Village. Recent additions include retail spaces like Disney Style, Disney Glamour, and Deco by Disney, as well as a new LEGO Store and the Petite Rosalie terrace restaurant. Casa Giulia, an Italian restaurant, is scheduled to open in the former Planet Hollywood space by year-end.

The investment signals Disneyland Paris’s intent to elevate Disney Village from a transitional area to a distinct destination within the resort. Public reaction to the change has been mixed, with some guests expressing nostalgia for the original location while others commend the scale, modern design, and sustainability efforts of the new facility.

This modernization aims to meet evolving guest expectations, providing a contemporary dining experience within the updated Disney Village landscape. The permanent closure of the original McDonald’s concludes one chapter while initiating a new one focused on enhanced visitor amenities and environmental responsibility.
