An exciting new collaboration is coming to Universal Studios Japan this fall that will delight Pokémon fans. For the first time ever, select Pokémon characters will be featured at a Universal theme park property for a limited-time Halloween celebration.
From September 11th through November 5th, Universal Studios Japan will host the HAHAHA! Halloween Party event. The highlight of this family-friendly daytime festival will be the Pokémon Halloween Party, led by none other than DJ Pikachu and DJ Gengar. These fan-favorite Pokémon will appear in exclusive costumes as party-loving DJs to keep the energy high.
Guests will have the chance to meet and take photos with DJ Pikachu and DJ Gengar, as well as some ghostly Pokémon friends – Mimikyu, Banette, and Misdreavus. Other popular characters like the Minions, Snoopy, and Hello Kitty will also be present to greet attendees.
The Pokémon Halloween Party represents a creative new venture for Universal Studios. While Pokémon experiences exist at other theme parks worldwide, this will be the first time Pokémon characters have been featured at a Universal property.
Many fans have hoped for more robust Pokémon representation in Universal’s parks, especially given the success of Super Nintendo World. With Pokémon being the highest-grossing media franchise globally, there is certainly pent-up demand to see these beloved characters integrated in new ways.
This special Halloween event appears to be a test run for Pokémon at Universal. If successful, it could pave the way for more permanent Pokémon attractions at Universal Studios Japan or other Universal theme park locations down the road.
For now, guests visiting Japan this fall will be in for a frightful, fun-filled treat. The HAHAHA! Halloween Party featuring the Pokémon Halloween Party looks to be an energetic celebration that trainers of all ages will enjoy.
