Disney strategically employs Virtual Queues to manage high demand for their cutting-edge attractions. At either 7AM or 1PM, eager guests can vie for a spot within the Virtual Queue using the My Disney Experience app. Once their boarding group is called, they proceed towards the attraction. The idea is to replace the traditional standby queue, allowing guests to explore other park offerings while they “wait.” However, the reality is not always as smooth.

Upon the call of your boarding group, you must proceed to the attraction and scan in for your designated time slot. However, a common drawback arises: the line just to scan in can be unexpectedly time-consuming. In the past, guests have experienced waits of up to 6 hours solely to access the ride queue itself! Often, guest reserve their spots too late and find all the ‘spots’ booked up for the day.
