Walt Disney World announced today that it will be making some changes to the final act of the Carousel of Progress attraction in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom Park. The changes are being made in an effort to make the attraction more inclusive and diverse.

The current show depicts the family celebrating Christmas in the final scene. However, the updated scene will take place during wintertime and will feature a celebration of multiple holidays, including Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Ashura, and Diwali.

In addition, the character of Patricia will be portrayed as transgender in the updated scene. The name “Patricia” can be used for both male and female, so the character will now be referred to as “Pat” and “he/him.”

The changes are being met with mixed reactions. Some guests are supportive of the changes, while others feel that they are unnecessary or even disrespectful to the original show.

Disney has not yet announced when the updated show will debut.
